Our Mission

“To make Jesus Christ known”

Our hope is that everyone who belongs to the congregation of All Saints Pocklington is growing in knowledge of Jesus Christ: who he is, what he has done, and what he is doing in the world today. Based on a foundation of prayer, and expressed in worship and service we want all our members to be able to share that knowledge with the wider community around us, so that people may discover the love of God at the centre of their lives. This was the mission of St Paulinus nearly 1400 years ago, and it is our mission here today.

The parish of All Saints Pocklington is a constituent parish of the Diocese of York, which is in turn part of the Church of England and the world-wide Anglican Communion. We worship the one true God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, revealed in the Bible, and we profess the one true faith expressed in the catholic creeds.

 Pocklington All Saints

The Christian faith was brought to Pocklington in AD627 by St Paulinus, who was sent from Rome to evangelise the north of England. He is reputed to have preached the gospel on or near the site of the present church, and to have baptized members of the local population in the beck which still runs along the north side of the church. There has been a Christian congregation here ever since.

We are also registered as a Fair Trade Church and a stall of products from Traidcraft and similar organisations is available after the 10.45 am service on alternate Sundays.
