Bell Ringing Ringing has taken place at Pocklington continuously since the bells were increased from a 5 in the early part of the 1900s. The band is still paid by a legacy an annual amount and the tower captain receives additional remuneration for his training of the band. (Not a lot!) The band, now 8 or so strong, currently is at it’s strongest in living memory, with 3 surprise ringers and several others able to ring plain and treble bob methods. A variety of ringing takes place on a practice from raising, call changes, plain, treble bob, surprise and sometimes simple spliced to lowering again. Visitors are more than welcome you WILL be the one to allow us to ring whatever it is you can manage! Non ringing visitors are also welcome if you’d just like to find out a bit more about us. It would, of course, be a good idea to phone and check that ringing is taking place when you plan to be in the area. Potential recruits will be treated to sweeties! Under 16s will need consent to attend and if it’s your first time we’ll need you to get a form filled in first but don’t let it put you off.
